What is Natural Facelift Massage?
Natural Facelift Massage (also called Facial Rejuvenation) is a truly holistic treatment based on ancient Ayurvedic techniques. It is performed entirely with the hands, without the use of oils or creams.
The treatment works primarily by freeing constrictions within the facial muscles and connective tissue. Tension can build up in our facial muscles from the pressures of everyday life without us realising it, as thoughts and emotions become habitual, locking themselves into expressions on our faces.
A typical session begins with relaxation and energy balancing, followed by activation of specific acupressure points on the face. Friction movements with varying degrees of pressure are then applied all over the face and neck to detect areas of tension and encourage letting go of habitual facial expressions.
One side of the face is then worked on with Ayurvedic smoothing techniques to remove dead skin cells and ‘iron out’ fine lines and wrinkles. Deeper techniques are used to release restrictions in the connective tissue of the dermis and lift the underlying facial muscles.Circulation and elimination are improved, and the tissues become more mobile.
Halfway through the first treatment, you can sit up to compare both sides of your face and most people are usually pleased and surprised at the visible difference. The same techniques are then repeated on the other side and the treatment finishes with lymphatic drainage, scalp massage and grounding techniques.
How Frequently Should I Have Natural Facelift Massage?
The muscles of the face differ from those of the body in that they are directly attached to the skin that covers them. This means that when the facial muscles sag, the skin attached to them sags too.
The overall effect of natural facelift massage has been described as a gym workout for the face but with deeply relaxing effects on the whole body. Just like going to the gym on a regular basis helps keep the muscles of the body toned, regular facelift massage treatments will keep the facial muscles toned.
Although a difference can usually be seen and felt after just one treatment, the effects are cumulative and work best over a course of six weekly treatments, followed by monthly maintenance treatments.
Compared to some anti-ageing facial procedures available today, natural facelift massage does not carry any negative side effects. As well as visible benefits, clients often report feeling more relaxed, sleeping better and relief from sinus problems and various stress related symptoms.
A Simple Facial Workout
Try this simple facial workout morning and night to keep your facial muscles strong and supple, maintain a healthy blood supply and aid waste removal as well as stimulate acupressure points; 8 of the 14 major energy meridians have points on the face and these connect to various internal organs. Your eyes and sinuses will also benefit and even your eyesight may improve.
Massage each point shown below by circling with your fingers three times in each direction. Tap all over your face with your fingers – you can also use a slapping action on your cheeks.
Finish your facial workout by gently stroking your face upwards and outwards from neck to forehead and then massage your scalp.
