The Kansa Vatki Bowl
is a small bowl made from copper, zinc and tin. This metal alloy (Kansa) is known in Ayurveda as the ‘healing metal’ – it is said to be even more effective than gold or silver! It is thought that copper may help in reducing pain and inflammation, zinc in aiding the digestive and immune systems and tin in aiding digestion, headaches and insomnia.
During the treatment:
The client is lying comfortably on their back, fully dressed, apart from the lower legs and feet. The treatment begins by cleansing the feet and lower legs before a thorough massage is given with the Kansa Vatki bowl and with the therapist’s hands.

“The soles of our feet can open the doors of our body’s internal pharmacy”.
Dr. Vasant Lad, one of the world’s foremost experts in Ayurveda, Ayurvedic physician and professor
Ayurvedic Kansa Vatki Foot Massage is a wonderful holistic treatment, which relaxes and balances body, mind and spirit; allowing the vital/life force energy (also known as: Prana, Chi, Reiki) to flow effortlessly throughout the whole physical and energy body, helping to boost the body’s own self-healing mechanism.
Ayurvedic KV Foot Massage works on marma points. Marmas are vital energy points/Ayurvedic pressure points and they correspond to internal organs and systems of the body, similarly to reflex points in reflexology or to the acupressure points in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
There are 107 marma points on the whole body, of which 7 can be found on each lower leg and foot. These 14 marma points are massaged during the treatment, both with the Kansa Vatki bowl and the therapist’s hands.
“When you have no time to massage your whole body, at least massage the soles of your feet.”

Ayurveda means the science of life.
Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge. The art of harmonious and healthy living.
The two main guiding principles of Ayurveda are
- the mind and the body are inextricably connected
- nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind
Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world’s oldest holistic (body + mind + spirit) healing systems. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease. Ayurveda was developed more than 5,000 years ago in India. It was recorded in the sacred texts, called Vedas.
This treatment can be taken alone, or in combination with another treatment such as reflexology, Ayurvedic Kansa Wand Facelift Massage, Reiki or massage.
