It is not only an invigorating scalp massage which stimulates and refreshes the recipient, but also includes massaging the face, the neck, the shoulders, the upper back and the upper arms; since these body parts accumulate lots of psychological and physical tension.

The therapy is done in a seated position, the client is fully dressed. The treatment does not require more than 30 minutes and it is very effective.

The origins

Indian Head Massage techniques have evolved in India for over one thousand years. It used to be a family tradition. Three generations of women massaging each other’s head at the same time, using different oils adjusted to the seasons and their special needs. The original concept was to keep women’s long hair healthy, shiny and beautiful. Head Massage was and is still widespread in barber’s shops with the intention of giving an invigorating scalp massage to stimulate and refresh the receiver. Head Massage is also very popular on the beaches, market places and streets in India.

The Indian Head Massage which is a combination of the original Champi (Head Massage) and a modern massage of the upper body, was developed by Mr. Narendra Mehta who for this achievement was honoured with MBE (Member of the British Empire).
